The ref. 7967 is one of the most characterful mid-century Tudors, and the Tuxedo dial is the reason why. The two-tone layout, with its black centre and brushed silver outer ring, is immediately striking, and it holds up just as well today as it did when these watches left the factory in the early 1960s.
Underneath, it runs on Tudor's Calibre 2461 automatic movement in a 34mm steel Oyster case, built to the same standards as the Rolex cases of the period. Solid, well-engineered, and made to last.
The dial has developed a light, even patina across its sixty-plus years, the kind that adds warmth and character without affecting legibility. The printing remains crisp, and the contrast between the two zones of the dial is exceptionally well preserved.
Condition
The case is honest and strong for its age, with natural wear and a light engraved number (783) on the case back. The acrylic crystal is clear with only minor signs of age. The dial is entirely original. The movement has been inspected and is running well.
Why this one
Tuxedo dial examples in genuinely original, unpolished condition are becoming harder to find at any price. The combination of the Rolex-quality Oyster case construction and that distinctive dial configuration makes the ref. 7967 one of the standout pieces from Tudor's early catalogue, and this one represents excellent value for what it is.
